Schlitterbahn Waterparks: Slide Into Enjoyment

Schlitterban is a German word that means slippery road and it is also the name of three water parks of Texas that are among the top water parks in the U.S. The Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort was opened in 1979. At that time, the park had four water slides. This Waterpark began to grow soon; now the park has two parts: Schlitterbahn West (added in the 70’s) and Schlitterbahn East (added in 1991). These two parts of Schlitterbahn Waterparks have parking spaces available between each other as well as free shuttle to facilitate the mobilization of people in the park. Schlitterbahn East is also divided in two areas (Surfenburg and Blastenhoff); each one has a specific theme. The Dragon Blaster was the first uphill water ride ever made; guess by who…you are right, Schlitterbahn Waterparks made it. The success of this ride motivated Schlitterbahn to create more uphill water coasters; some are the Master Blaster and the Family Blaster. In fact, the Master Blaster has been signaled as the best water ride of the United States.

The park located in New Braunfels has, 17 water slides, 7 water playgrounds for children, the first surfing machine of the world (Boogie Bahn) and over 5 km (3 miles) of inner tube rides. The Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark was opened in 1991 in South Padre Island, Texas. In these parks, visitors can bring non-alcoholic beverages and food of their own, a feature that modern amusement parks usually do not have. Take a chance, enjoy what this place has to offer!
