Lone Star Flight Museum: Let’s Fly Through the History

Lone Star Flight Museum (LSFM) was originally a private collection of several aircrafts. Suddenly the achievement of more planes obligated the owner to build them a place to exhibit them. That is how, by 1990 a place was constructed with an extension of 50,000 square feet in Galveston, TX. But, by the year 1991 this facility was insufficient and a new hangar with an extension of 30,000 square feet was added.

After the construction, the owner decided to establish a museum and provide educational programs, exhibit the aircrafts and recruit volunteers through the membership program of the museum. When George W. Bush was governor of Texas; he established the Lone Star Flight Museum as the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame.

Inside the Lone Star Flight Museum you can find the Fondren Center for Aviation Studies which has the most complete collection of manuscripts, books, original papers and original stories of the pilots and those archives are available for all the public who wants to see them.

The museum keeps growing and today is the home of 40 historical planes and more than 1,500 pieces that are used to demonstrate the quantum increase in technology of the past century. Every year there are several air shows, which are admired for more than 1.5 million people. An attractive fact is that even the historic planes are used in these shows.

The museum is located in the Galveston International Airport. If you like the emotions of planes do not miss the opportunity and enjoy about the history of aircrafts.
