Texas State Aquarium: Would You Like To Be A Dolphin Trainer?


The Texas State Aquarium is located very close to the Corpus Christi downtown; it has an extension of 7.3 acres and is also next to the Gulf of Mexico. This aquarium was created to educate, exhibit animals from the sea, promote practice environmental conservation of the sea wildlife, but the main reason is for the entertaining of all the types of people who enjoy visiting aquariums. The aquarium is open everyday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There are some advices that you must keep in your mind to enjoy the visit to this place. Some of these advices are: try to arrive at least 20 minutes before the presentations, use comfortable shoes and clothes, remember that you may get wet (bring extra clothes), check the weather because sometimes the presentations are exhibited outdoors. 

The aquarium also offers facilities for people with physical disabilities, it has special accesses for people that need to use wheelchairs and there are also a limited number of wheelchairs for free. One of the most exciting experiences of the aquarium is that you can become in a dolphin trainer.

The staff of the aquarium will prepare you for be a part of a dolphins presentation, you will help to prepare their food and then feed them, you will receive a “trainer for one day” t-shirt. If you are interested in being part of this experience you must be under 13 years, be in excellent physical condition, you must know how to swim, be able to lift 10 or more pounds among other requirements.

The aquarium is a not for profit organization. The operational funds are obtained from the entrances rates only. If you visit Texas, do not miss the chance and visit this amazing and beautiful aquarium. It is an experience that you will never forget.
