Cascade Caverns: The Underworld in Texas

The cascade caverns receive their name due to the 100 feet waterfall that you can see inside it. This place has been a popular tourist attraction since the year 1932. However, caverns have been explored by animals and especially by the men since many centuries ago. Investigators say that the first creature that got in these caverns was a mastodon whose bones are still inside the caves. There are also proofs that the American Indians held ceremonies in the first room of the cavern.

There is an old legend which says that a long time ago a German immigrant killed a man in a fight and he escaped into the cave where he stayed living as a hermit. In fact there are several books that talk about this tale.

Inside the caverns you will discover many amazing things, one of them is the dinosaur that Patrick Swayze used in one of his films called “Father Hood”, you will also see rocks with forms of turtles, a rock with the figure of George Washington and many others.

The most exiting part of the caverns (and most beautiful too) is when you get to the end where the last room is located. The most amazing thing here is the 100 feet cascade. You can stay there for some minutes for then get back to the point where you started. You can also enjoy watching the wildlife that is in the caverns and close to them. You can see salamanders, bats among others. If you enjoy the adventure of being underworld, this tour is especially for you.
