Taylor




Texas is a state located in the southern and western regions of the United States of America. The state is second largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth largest port in the world.

Taylor is a city in Williamson county, Texas, United States. The population was 13,575 at the 2000 census, it was 15,014 in the 2005 census estimate. Geographically Taylor is located about 17 miles east of round rock and 29 miles northeast of Austin.According to the United States census bureau, the city has a total area of 35.1 square kilometer of it is land and 0.1 square kilometer is water. In the city, the population was spread out with 28.7 percent under the age of 18, 9.0 percent from 18 to 24, 29.1 percent from 25 to 44, 19.2 percent from 45 to 64, and 14.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.0 males.

TaylorCNET is a collaborative partnership between the city of Taylor, Taylor ISD, Taylor economic development, Williamson county, the Taylor housing authority, johns community hospital, Taylor chamber of commerce and college temple. The organization's purpose is to improve the quality of life in Taylor through technology. TaylorCNET is governed by five member Board of Directors. Using a $500,000 grant from the Texas telecommunications infrastructure fund, the organization has built a technology center within the city's old middle school, including a computer lab, a video conferencing center and office for a day facilities. 14 public access points have been added in other locations throughout Taylor. The city is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of United States, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over.
