Seguin




Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. The state is second largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth largest port in the world.

Seguin is a city in Guadalupe county, Texas, in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 22,011. It is the county seat of Guadalupe county. Seguin was founded in 1838 by members of Mathew Caldwell's Gonzales Rangers, since 1912, Seguin has been the home of Texas Lutheran University. The city was also the location of the historical Wilson Pottery site, the first freed slave business in Texas. According to the United States census bureau, the city has a total area of 49.7 kilometer square and 0.4 kilometer square is water. Seguin is continually annexing and growing.
 
In the city the population was spread out with 27.4 percent under the age of 18, 13.3 percent from 18 to 24, 25.3 percent from 25 to 44, 18.7 percent from 45 to 64, and 15.3 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 90.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.8 males. About Education, the city of Seguin is served by the Seguin Independent School District.

About Seguin Recreation, Max Starke Park located along the beautiful Guadalupe river, Starcke park offers a variety of recreational facilities for Seguinites of all ages, including an 18 hole golf course, tennis, basket ball and volleyball courts. Wave pool and aquatic center located in Max Starcke Park East, the municipally owned Seguin aquatic center features a 15,000 square foot wave pool with a zero depth beach type entry, splash pool, raindrop mushroom and a floating snake sculpture. As it is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of United States, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over.
