Schertz




Texas is a state located in the southern and western regions of the United States of America. The state is second largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth largest port in the world.

Schertz is a city in Guadalupe county and a portion located in Bexar county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 18,694. It is generally considered part of the larger San Antonio metropolitan area. According to the United States census bureau, the city has a total area of 64.1 square kilometer. None of the area is covered with water. The population of the city was spread out with 29.3 percent under the age of 18, 6.7 percent from 18 to 24, 33.0 percent from 25 to 44, 22.2 percent from 45 to 64, and 8.8 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 93.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.3 males.

The public education in Schertz is provided through the Schertz Cibolo universal city independent school district. The area has undergone significant growth in recent years, necessitating the opening of a second high school in the district in 2005 called Byron P. Steele High School in Cibolo. Culture and recreation, the city is proud of all facilities it has like parks, sports field extra, over 100 acres have been developed for this. Public parks also provide picnic facilities and playgrounds. Lighted basketball courts and a junior olympic sized swimming pool are open to the public throughout the summer months. This event is one of the highlights of the summer of the city and surrounding area. The city is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of U.S, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over.
