Denison




Texas is a state located in the southern and western regions of the United States of America. The state is second largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries, and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth largest port in the world.

Denison is a city in Grayson County, Texas in United States. The population was 22,773 at the 2000 census. It is also one of two principal cities and is included in the Sherman, Texas Denison and Texas metropolitan statistical area. According to the United States census bureau, the city has a total area of 59.3 square kilometers of which 58.5 square kilometers is land and 0.8 square kilometers is water. The population was spread out with 24.6 percent under the age of 18, 8.8 percent from 18 to 24, 26.7 percent from 25 to 44, 22.4 percent from 45 to 64 and 17.4 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years.

The United States, President Dwight Eisenhower was born in Denison and is by far the city's most famous resident though he lived there only three years. The former Texas agriculture commissioner and progressive populist Jim Hightower and actor John Hillerman are also from Denison. The city provides endless recreational opportunities for visitors and locals. It also offers smooth sea breezes and endless blue skies which are supported by plentiful shopping and beautiful beaches. This place is regarded as a premier vacation destination and rated as top vacation spots in Texas. Hence it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over.
