Odessa




Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. The state is second-largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries, and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth-largest port in the world.
 
Odessa is a city and the county seat of Ector county located in U.S. United States of Texas, America. Odessa's population was 90,943 as of the 2000 United States Census, as of 2005 census the population estimated projection of 93,546. The city and its surrounding suburbs had a population of 125,339 as of 2005. Odessa is the principal city  and is included in the Odessa, Texas metropolitan statistical area, which is included in the Midland, Texas-Odessa, Texas combined statistical area of which both Midland and twin city Odessa are co-principal cities. The Midland Odessa metropolitan area had a population 241,316 as of the July 1, 2004 estimate.
 
The city has an area of  95.5 square kilometers. Out of the total area 0.2 square kilometers is occupied by water and its density is 954.2 per square kilometers. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 95.5 square kilometers. About 95.3 square kilometers of the total area is covered by land.
