New Braunfels




Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. The state is second-largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade.
 
New Braunfels is a city in Texas, United States. The population of the city was 36,494 as of the 2000 census and in 2005, it was estimated to be 47,168. It is the county seat of Comal County. New Braunfels has a sizeable German-American community. The town holds a German-style festival, Wurstfest, every November to celebrate the city's German heritage.
 
The city has an area  of 76.1 square kilometers, and is covered by 75,7 square kilometers  by land and 0.4 square kilometers by water. The population of the city as of 2005 was 47,168 with a density of 619,8 per square kilometers. New Braunfels was established in 1845 by the German nobleman Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels, Commissioner General of the Society for the Protection of German Immigrants in Texas, also known as the Noblemen's Society. Prince Carl named the city for Braunfels, his hometown in Germany.
 
It is 30 miles northeast of San Antonio and 45 miles southwest of Austin. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 76.1 square kilometers 75.8 of it is land and 0.4 square kilometers by water. The city is situated along the Balcones Fault, where the Texas Hill Country meets rolling prairie land. Along the fault in the city, a string of artesian springs known as Comal springs give rise to the Comal River, which is known as the shortest river in the world.
 
New Braunfels is served by the New Braunfels independent school district and the Comal independent school district. New Braunfels Christian Academy the Academy at New Braunfels, or New Braunfels Academy is a large independent private school that serves the area as the county's largest private educational institution.

New Braunfels, justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited place. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origin back to prehistoric times.
