Laredo




Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. The state is second-largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries, and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth-largest port in the world.
 
Laredo is the county seat of Webb County, Texas, United States, on the north bank of the Rio Grande, across from Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 176,576. A July 1, 2005 Census estimate raised this number to 208,754. Laredo International Airport, located in east Laredo, provides daily flights to Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston, and Mexico City. Laredo has four hospitals: Laredo Medical Center, Doctor's Hospital, Providence Surgical Center, and Laredo Specialty Hospital. County: Webb.
 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 206.0 square kilometers. 203.2 square kilometers of it is land and 2.8 square kilometers of it is water. The population density is of 868.9 square kilometers.
 
The Washington's Birthday Celebration WBCA is an almost month long held event that celebrates George Washington's Birthday. It was founded in 1898 by the Improved Order of the Red Men, local chapter Yaqui. It is the largest celebration of its kind in the United States with approximately 400,000 attendees annually. It is also known as the town of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
