Forney




Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. The state is second-largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries, and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth-largest port in the world.
 
Forney is a city located in Kaufman County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 5,588. Recent estimates, however, place the population at around 8,900 people, making Forney among the fastest growing towns in the Dallas/Fort-Worth Metropolitan Area with an unofficial estimated growth rate of over 20 percent from 2004 to 2005.
 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 20.3 square kilometers. 20.3 square kilometers of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. There were 1,920 households out of which 46.7 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.0 percent were married couples living together, 13.1 percent had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.7 percent were non-families. As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 5,588 people, 1,920 households and 1,522 families residing in the city.
 
The population density is 275.2 square kilometers. There are 2,001 housing units at an average density of 98.5 square kilometers. The racial makeup of the city was 83.72 percent White, 7.39 percent African American, 0.55 percent Native American, 0.20 percent Asian, 0.14 percent Pacific Islander, 6.30 percent from other races, and 1.70 percent from two or more races. 9.61 percent of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.
 
With the rapid population growth Forney has experienced over the last several years, area churches have strived to keep pace with the large numbers of new members. The Forney Independent School District services Forney.

Forney is served by several elementary schools, Forney Middle School and Forney High School.The district received an academic rating of Academically Acceptable based on the test results of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, TAKS. As it is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of Texas one of the most visited places amongst the most die-hard travelers the world over.
