El Campo




Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. The state is second-largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries, and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth-largest port in the world.
 
El Campo is a city in Wharton County, Texas, United States. The population was 10,945 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 19.3 square kilometers.
 
As of the census of 2000, there were 10,945 people, 3,931 households, and 2,810 families residing in the city. As of the census of 2000, there were 41,188 people, 14,799 households, and 10,744 families residing in the county. The population density was 15 per square kilometers. There were 16,606 housing units at an average density of 6 per square kilometers. The racial makeup of the county was 69.01 percent white, 14.95 percent black or African American, 0.37 percent Native American, 0.31 percent Asian, 0.06 percent Pacific Islander, 13.65 percent from other races, and 1.64 percent from two or more races. 31.29 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

El Campo is also known as the town of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
