Corinth, Texas




Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. The state is second-largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries, and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth-largest port in the world.
 
Corinth is a city in Denton County, Texas, United States. The population was 11,325 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 20.5 square kilometers, 20.4 square kilometers of it is land and 0.1 square kilometers of it is water. As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 11,325 people, 3,879 households, and 3,359 families residing in the city. The population density was 556.3 per square kilometers. There were 4,100 housing units at an average density of 201.4 square kilometers. The racial makeup of the city was 88.57 percent white, 4.19 percent African American, 0.66 percent Native American, 2.38 percent Asian, 0.05 percent Pacific Islander, 2.25 percent from other races, and 1.88 percent from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.09 percent of the population.
