Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. Brownsville is a city in Cameron County, Texas, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 139,722. As of 2005, U.S. Census estimates put Brownsville at a population of 167,493. It is the county seat of Cameron CountyGR6. Fort Texas, a fort on the Mexican border was commissioned in 1845 less than a mile from downtown Brownsville.
 
Brownsville is the sixth fastest growing manufacturing region in the United States, according to a national ranking by Industry Week Magazine. The same survey rates Brownsville 55th out of 310 metropolitan areas nationwide as a good place to do business the highest rating of any other border city. Economic data reflects a 22% employment increase and a 36 percent income hike for the manufacturing sector over the last three years. These numbers were calculated prior to Titan Wheel and other manufactures announced they would add a combined 1,000 jobs in the upcoming year.
