In an effort to clean up the mess left in the wake of Katrina, Austin, Texas-based Scrapitout.com announced that it would start providing computer disposal services in New Orleans.
Austin, Texas-based Scrapitout.com announced that requests for its services is driving the need to provide its computer disposal services to help New Orleans as it rebuilds. “It just makes sense due to the large volume of requests we get from New Orleans,” said Phil Kuhlenbeck, founder of computer recycling services scrapitout.com, an Austin, Texas based Data Destruction and Computer Recycling Company. He also points out that, Recycling computers items can be somewhat tricky and dangerous if not done properly. “What we are doing is making it just as easy to recycle computers as it is to throw them away, this approach has gotten a lot more people to pay attention and take action." In the United States, Federal and state government heavily regulate the way organizations disposed of computers, but in the case of New Orleans a lot of the computer systems have just been left abandoned in buildings and offices. Kuhlenbeck goes on to say, “Our goal is to keep computers out of landfills. This will be done by collecting and dismantling the damaged and destroyed computers, separating the pieces and melting the pieces down using the raw material to make brand new products.” Based in Austin, Texas, Scrap It Out handles the proper destruction of business information and records, as well as, environmentally friendly computer disposal.
