Saginaw
Texas is a state located in the southern and western regions of the United States of America. The state is second largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. It declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries and for its ship channel at the port of Houston which is the largest in the United States in international commerce and the sixth largest port in the world. Saginaw is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population of the city was 12,374 at the 2000 census. According to 2000 census there were 12,374 people, 4,229 households and 3,450 families residing in the city. It was named in 1882 after Saginaw Michigan by Jarvis J. Green. It sits solidly in the heart of the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex and remains an agriculture business center for much of Texas with some of the largest grain storage facilities in the world. It is conveniently located nine miles north of Downtown Fort Worth and 37 miles west of Dallas. Alliance airport and Texas motor speedway are located within 15 miles of Saginaw. The federal bureau of printing and engraving facility is located six tenths of a mile north of Saginaw. It is the ultimate in transportation convenience. The Dallas Fort Worth, an international airport is 20 miles to the east of Saginaw and Fort Worth Meacham international airport is only 3 miles away. The citizens of this city enjoy a balance of urban amenities and a small town quality of life and the community is rich in heritage and traditional family values. The city representatives with a pro business attitude have looked to the future in designing the city's infrastructure.
