Lancaster




Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. The state is second-largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries, and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth-largest port in the world.
 
Lancaster is a city in Dallas County, Texas USA. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, the city population was 25,894 though a 2006 estimate placed the city's population at 33,550. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 75.9 square kilometers. 75.9 square kilometers of it is land and 0.03 percent is water. The population density is of 341.3 square kilometers. Lancaster is served mainly by the Lancaster Independent School District and to a lesser extent by the Dallas Independent School District. The Dallas ISD portion was served by the Wilmer-Hutchins Independent School District before Dallas ISD took over the district.
