La Marque




Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. The state is second-largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries, and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth-largest port in the world.
 
Marque is a city in Galveston County, Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown Metropolitan area. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, the city population was 13,682. The city is located northwest of Galveston near oil fields. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 36.9 square kilometers. 36.8 square kilometers of it is land and 0.1 square kilometers of it is water. The population density is of 371.5 square kilometers.
 
Most of the city is served by La Marque Independent School District. La Marque High School serves that portion. Small portions of La Marque are served by the Dickinson Independent School District, Hitchcock Independent School District, and the Santa Fe Independent School District.  All of La Marque is served by the College of the Mainland. The city owns the La Marque Public Library.

La Marque is also known as the town of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
