Hurst
Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. The state is second largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries, and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth-largest port in the world. Hurst is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 36,273 at the 2000 census. Hurst is part of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford independent school district. William Letchworth Hurst found it. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 25.6 square kilometers, all covered by land. The city council has made it a strategic priority to develop and implement action plans for the older commercial corridors of the city. Three corridors have been identified under this priority, pipeline road, Bedford Euless road, and state highway 10, also known as Hurst Boulevard. The first project undertaken was pipeline road. Hurst is home to Lawrence D. Bell High School. It opened in 1957 on a site donated to the school district by the late Larry Bell, founder and president of Bell Helicopter Textron in Hurst. Rapid student growth and academic excellence have been the cornerstone of Bell High School for forty years. The mission of economic development in Hurst is to maintain a high quality of life in Hurst by promoting the efficient and orderly development of private properties and encouraging the growth of business and enhancement of property values within the community. Hurst desires to develop programs to retain, expand, and attract business to the city. Hurst, justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited place. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origin back to prehistoric times.
