Hewitt
Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. The state is second-largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries, and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth-largest port in the world. Hewitt is a city in McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 11,085 at the 2000 census. McLennan County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. Warren, the town's first businessman, in the 1880s. Warren purchased the approximately 40 acres and the townsite was named Hewitt in 1883 for George A. Hewitt, an employee of the Missouri, Kansas and Texas railroad.
As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 11,085 people, 3,931 households, and 3,223 families residing in the city. The population density was 621.2 square kilometers. There were 4,018 housing units at an average density of 225.2 square kilometers. The racial makeup of the city was 84.08 percent White, 7.70 percent African American, 0.42 percent Native American, 2.35 percent Asian, 0.06 percent Pacific Islander, 4.02 percent from other races and 1.37 percent from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 9.28 percent of the population. As it is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of Texas one of the most visited places amongst the most die-hard travelers the world over.
