Flower Mound

Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. The state is second-largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries, and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth-largest port in the world.

Native American habitation of what eventually became Denton County dates back to at least 4000 before christ, according to archeological surveys by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. European settlement in the Flower Mound area is reported as early as the 1840s. Nineteenth-century settlers such as Andrew Morriss and David Kirkpatrick are still memorialized with street names in the city.

Flower Mound is a city in Denton County, Texas USA. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 50,702, although more recent studies show the numbers to be closer to 70,000. The name comes from a large mound located in the southern portion of the city. Though surrounded by commercial and residential development, the mound, believed to be a Native American burial ground, is privately owned so as to be protected from further development.

Flower Mound has a small-town vibe with easy access to Dallas/Fort worth international airport and the Dallas/Fort worth Metroplex. It refuses to be referred to as a city despite its recent growth; it bills itself as the Town of Flower Mound with a Town Hall and a Town Council. The city is home to the headquarters of Time Warner Cable's South/Southwest Division which employs over 1,400 people and provides services to over 530,000.

The town is mostly served by the Lewisville Independent School District. Other parts of Flower Mound are located in the Argyle Independent School District, Denton Independent School District, and Northwest Independent School District. The city is home to two high schools, Edward S. Marcus High School and the newer Flower Mound High School, both part of the Lewisville district. As it is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of Texas one of the most visited places amongst the most die-hard travelers the world over.
