Euless
Texas is a state located in the Southern and Western regions of the United States of America. The state is second-largest in both area and population behind Alaska and California, respectively. The state's name derives from a word in the Caddoan language of the Hasinai. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 and existed as the independent Republic of Texas for nearly a decade. Texas is internationally known for its energy and aeronautics industries, and for its ship channel at the Port of Houston, the largest in the U.S. in international commerce and the sixth-largest port in the world. Euless is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 46,005 at the 2000 census.Part of Dallas and Fort Worth International Airport, which serves the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, is inside the city limits of Euless. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 42.1 square kilometers. As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 46,005 people, 19,218 households, and 11,626 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,091.7 square kilometers. There were 20,136 housing units at an average density of 477.8 per square kilometers. The racial makeup of the city was 75.52 percent white, 6.49 percent African American, 0.64 percent Native American, 7.15 percent Asian, 1.86 percent Pacific Islander, 5.38 percent from other races, and 2.96 percent from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 13.31 percent of the population. Euless has one of the largest populations of Tongans in North America. Euless is a member of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District. Together with Hurst and Bedford, this area forms one of the largest recognized suburban school districts in the state of Texas. Euless has four elementary schools, one junior high school, and one high school. Some residents of the city of Euless attend high schools in the Grapevine Colleyville Independent School District such as Bear Creek Elementary, Heritage Middle School, and Colleyville Heritage High School. Colleyville Heritage High School is one of the most highly regarded high schools in the nation, but received negative publicity for the 2004 Steroid Scandal amongst the football players.
